The Guide pages of TheRightsApproach website are intended to help those new to rights–based approaches get to grips with the field. Each guide page provides a brief explanation and is followed by a small number of selected introductory readings.
Many agencies and organisations now factor human rights into their development practice and programming. How they do this may vary depending on the type of organisation they are, their constituency, their method of work, and the social, cultural, political environment in which they function.
As a result, it is not easy to provide a single explanation of rights–based approaches for the newcomer to the field. Instead, we have attempted to represent a range of introductory material – drawing out both common aspects, and differences in approaches – that you can adapt to your own situation.
Do you have a question on rights-based programming? Would you like to contribute your ideas to the growing community of rights practitioners?
