Further details:

The foundation for Save the Children Norway’s work is the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Save the Children Norway is a committed and distinct advocate for children’s rights at local, national and international level.

Save the Children Norway’s vision is a world where children’s rights are fulfilled: that respects and values each child; that listens to children and supports their influence; and where all children have a life in freedom and security.

Save the Children Norway recognises the right of all children to basic education, enabling them to unfold their potential for learning and personal development. By basic education, we mean organised and systematic learning activities at early childhood, pre- and primary school levels. Basic education includes both formal and non-formal learning activities, within or outside educational institutions.

We support governments in expanding children’s access to relevant, quality education. We support education for disadvantaged groups – including girls, children in remote regions, working children and street children, children affected by armed conflict, children with disabilities and children of disadvantaged ethnic groups. We support education that is inclusive for all children, relevant to children’s life-situation and future opportunities and challenges, and developmental for children’s identity, imagination, aptitude and potential.
