This report provides supplementary information on The Holy See’s Second Interim Report on the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and its Initial Report on the Optional Protocol for the Sale of children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography. The report was submitted by The Center for Constitutional Rights on behalf of The Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests.
The report surveys the evidence and documentation that has emerged in different countries about widespread and systemic sexual abuse of children by priests and policies and practices of the Holy See which enable and facilitate such abuse. The report addresses these violations and policies as violations of articles 3, 6, 19, 34, 37 and 39 of the CRC Convention.
