This report was jointly prepared by Terre des Homme Germany and the Federal Association for Unaccompanied Refugee Minors. It provides supplementary information on “Germany and the 3rd and 4th periodic report” on the implementation of the CRC. The author Dima Zito interviewed 14 boys and girls who were abused as child soldiers in six different countries before they fled to Germany to seek asylum. Some statements describe their experience in the countries of origin and during the escape to Europe and others the situation in Germany. The results of the study show that the current procedures for reception and granting of asylum in Germany are not adequate to traumatized former child soldiers. The recommendations indicate that urgent steps should be taken to comply with human rights standards and the needs of the young people.
