Children's Ombudspersons

In its Concluding Observations of 2007, the Committee on the Rights of the Child expressed concerned that no independent body existed to monitor the implementation of the Convention nor to receive individual complaints in cases of violations of children's rights. The corresponding recommendations urged the State to establish a national human rights institution, “including [by nominating] an ombudsperson for children, provided with adequate human and financial resources to promote and strengthen accessibility for children and to enable the latter to submit complaints.”
