Children's Ombudsperson
In its Concluding Observations of 2008, the Committee on the Rights of the Child welcomed the establishment of the Ombudsman for Human Rights and Justice (Provedor de Direitos Humanos e Justica) and the State's expressed intention to institute a National Commission on the Rights of the Child. In 2009, the State established the National Commission on Child Rights, which is mandated to promote, defend and monitor children's enjoyment of their rights. The Committee is yet to review the Commission for compatibility with the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
