Children's Ombudsperson
The Committee on the Rights of the Child noted in its Concluding Observations of 2012 amendments made to the Independent National Commission on Human Rights Act in 2005 and 2009, but reiterated its concerns that the Independent National Commission on Human Rights “[continued] to be ineffective and lack[ed] an explicit mandate to investigate children's complaints”. The Committee urged the State to strengthen the capacity of the Commission to bring it into conformity with the Paris Principles and to ensure that there is an effective mechanisms to address complaints of violations of children's rights in a child sensitive manner.
