This handbook addresses the harmonisation of national legislation with international human rights instruments related to children, in particular the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.
The inspiration for this handbook derives from the need for innovative processes and approaches in relation to the establishment of a legal framework that effectively protects children and ensures realisation of their rights. It also derives from the need to disseminate practical experiences of legislative reform initiatives in favour of children.
The handbook includes chapters on: Comprehensive and Holistic Legislative Reform on Behalf of Children's Rights; Assessing Compliance of National Legislation with International Human Rights Norms and Standards; Constitutional Reforms in Favour of Children; Legislative Reform for the Protection of the Rights of Child Victims of Trafficking; and Realising Children's Rights to Adequate Nutrition through National Legislative Reform.
