Education in Emergencies
This e-learning course introduces staff members of (international) development agencies and NGOs to the legal frameworks protecting and governing education in emergencies. More than half the worlds permanently out-of-school children live in areas affected by emergencies, either natural disasters or armed conflict. Many more become temporarily affected when an emergency strikes or they face entire childhoods in refugee camps.

NORTH KOREA: UN Commission of Inquiry begins operations
The UN Commission set up to investigate human rights violations in North Korea has begun its operations with an initial meeting in Geneva. The three Commissioners welcomed the large amount of information that is already being provided by witnesses and experts, and plans to issue a call for submissions from civil society in due course.
