This conference is a key follow up action to the East Asia and Pacific Regional Preparatory Meeting for the World Congress III against Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents (held on 18-19 August 2008) in Bangkok and the World Congress III itself which recently took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 25-28 November 2008. The relevant recommendations and outcomes from the Regional Preparatory Meeting and The Rio de Janeiro Pact to Prevent and Stop Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents will be carefully reviewed in this conference and the key targets and commitments urgently proposed for immediate adoption and follow up by conference participants and other relevant stakeholders in the region.

Objectives

1. To discuss the situations of child sex tourism in Southeast Asia region by involving relevant parties
2. To share models and experiences in combating child sex tourism in Southeast Asia region
3. To develop cooperation mechanisms in combating child sex tourism in Southeast Asia


Expected outputs
Below are the expected outputs of this conference:

1. The mapping of the problems and situations of child sex tourism in Southeast Asia region
2. The identification of models and best practices in combating child sex tourism to be used as a model in other region
3. The establishment of coordination and cooperation among relevant parties in Southeast Asia Region in combating child sex tourism
4. The availability of a joint commitment among the participants to combat child sex tourism in Southeast Asia region

Call for Abstracts

The abstract must be not more than 2,500 words and the deadline for the submission of the abstract to the committee is 15 February 2009
