The Rights of the Child: What About Girls?

From 01/10/2002 to 05/10/2002

This seminar will examine the
discrimination that has always
affected girls. It will look at legal
protection offered to them and will
consider issues such as female
genital mutilations, domestic
violence, girls in jail and sexual
exploitation.

It will examine whether education is one of the solutions to such
issues, for example, whether it could reduce cases of early
marriage, whether it would build both awareness and prevention
of AIDS, whether it would facilitate girls’participation in politics
and lead to better conditions, economically, for girls.
Last updated: 12 September 2002
