Child devoted a Day of General 
Discussion (6 October 1997) to the 
theme &quot;The Rights of Children with 
Disabilities&quot;. List of background

the General Discussion. 



&lt;/p&gt;
At its 16th session (Geneva, 22 September - 10 October 1997) 
the Committee on the Rights of the Child devoted a day of 
general discussion (6 October 1997) to the theme &quot;the rights of 
children with disabilities &quot;. As for previous thematic discussions, 
the Committee invited representatives of United Nations organs, 
bodies and specialized agencies, as well as other competent 
bodies, including non-governmental organizations, research and 
academic organizations and individual experts, to contribute to 
the discussion. Several organizations and individual experts 
submitted contributions and other relevant documents on this 
theme.
