The Consortium for Street Children is once again looking forward to celebrating the International Day for Street Children on 12th April.

In 2012 84 events took place in 37 countries and there were over 580 pieces of media coverage highlighting some of the common misconceptions of street children. The theme this year is Home Street Home – highlighting that for many children across the world the street is their home.

With support from Aviva, HSBC and Tesco, CSC is producing a set of billboard posters illustrating the Home Street Home theme which will be displayed in various cities around the UK between 8th-21st April. On the 12th April the CSC is organising an awareness raising stunt in central London - Continuing the theme of Home Street Home will be displayed giant children’s bedroom signs, hung in various urban locations.

As part of this year’s theme the CSC is also launching an online petition calling for the UN to officially recognise the Day – www.streetchildrenday.org. The CSC believes that with strong public support we will all be one step closer to making this a reality.
